Sony thrilled movie fans when they introduced the VPL-VW285ES a year ago. It was the first true 4K projector to cost less than $5000. The new VPL-VW295ES delivers the same brilliant Ultra HD picture while adding improvements that enhance picture quality and compatibility.
The VPL-VW995ES is Sony's second-generation laser projector designed for home theaters. Advantages of a laser light source include extraordinary light purity, plus cool, efficient operation, and no lamp to replace. This projector addresses two limitations of its predecessor, the VPL-VW885ES. It provides greater light control, and upgrades the lens to Sony's super high-resolution ARC-F lens.
Compared to the more basic VPL-VW295ES, the VPL-VW695ES boosts brightness and contrast to produce a picture with more depth and pop. That's an advantage for any video source, but it's especially beneficial when watching HDR-enhanced content.
